Africa Dances

Gorer, Geoffrey. Africa Dances. First American Edition. 1935. Book is in very good condition; dust jacket is in good condition—jacket is attractive but it is trimmed by a 1/8-inch on the top and bottom, and there is light fraying.

There are many reasons why explorers go deep in the jungle—flora, fauna, or adventure, to name a few. This author did it for the dancing. He accompanied his friend, the acclaimed African dancer Benga, on a journey deep into unexplored Francophone Africa to study native dances, with the intent to export them back to Europe. This book is a record of that experience. It includes two sections of photogravure plates.
