Brown Derby Cookbook, First Edition, 1949

Cobb, Robert H. The Brown Derby Cookbook. First Edition. 1949. Book is in very good minus condition; dust jacket is in good plus condition—jacket shows to the spine, some creasing, a few minor tears, and moderate fraying. Still gift quality—moreover, not in such bad shape for a jacket nearly impossible to find in decent condition.

The Brown Derby was a symbol of mid-Century glamour on par with Dior’s New Look, Pan Am Airways, and Palm Springs. It was where those in Hollywood who were successful went for the great food, and where the upwardly mobile went to been seen with those were successful. This book offers not only the famous Derby recipes—Cobb Salad, Spaghetti Derby—but also recalls the vibrant social history of the famous restaurant.
